Getting started
Smart Code gives each of your playlists a six-digit code. Your customer types the code in Mega Player and the playlist loads. When a server or password changes, you update the source in your panel. The code, and your customer's setup, stay the same.
1. Create your account
Sign up with email or Google at smartcode.tv/signup. The trial lasts 10 days, needs no card and includes 3 codes with up to 5 devices each. Verify your email address to open the panel.
2. Create a code
In the panel, open Codes and choose New code. The wizard asks for three things:
- A name only you see, for example the customer's name or a package.
- The source: an Xtream Codes login, an M3U playlist link, or a Mega JSON document. See Source types.
- Optional limits: an expiry date, and how many devices may use the code.
For Xtream and M3U sources, use Test connection before you save: a typo in a server address shows up now rather than on your customer's TV. When you save, you get a random six-digit code, such as 482 915.
3. Give the code to your customer
Send the six digits, or the code's share link. The link opens a page that shows whether the code works and offers to open Mega Player with the code filled in. What your customer does next is in Adding a code in Mega Player.
Your customer can also check any code at smartcode.tv/check. The page shows only whether the code is active and which kind of source it has, never the source itself.
4. Keep it running
- Change the source on the code's Source tab. Every save is kept as a revision, so you can go back to an earlier one.
- Pause a code to stop it resolving without deleting it, for example while a customer's payment is late.
- Devices shows every device that has used the code. Revoke one to free its place.
- Analytics shows resolves per day, the top codes, and failed resolves with their reasons.
Changes apply the next time a player looks the code up. A player that is already playing picks up a new source when it reloads the playlist.
Plans
When the trial ends, codes stop resolving until you choose a plan. Your codes and sources are kept. Starter covers 25 codes, Pro 200 codes and adds live-URL JSON, and Business 1,000 codes. See Pricing.
For player developers
Players look codes up with GET /api/v1/resolve/{code}, sending an app key and a device identifier. The full contract, including every error, is in the OpenAPI file.
